The auspicious Shardiya Navratri 2025 is all set to begin from tomorrow. Known for its devotion, dance, colours, and cultural vibrance, Navratri is celebrated four times a year, but Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri hold the most importance. This year, Shardiya Navratri will run a little longer than usual, giving devotees one extra day of celebration.
Navratri begins with Ghatasthapana (Kalash Sthapana) and continues with daily pujas dedicated to the Navadurgas. Many devotees observe fasts, recite the Durga Saptashati, and perform evening aartis. The final two days – Maha Navami and Vijayadashami are celebrated with grandeur, concluding with Durga Visarjan and symbolic Ravan Dahan in many parts of India.
According to the Drik Panchang calendar, Shardiya Navratri 2025 will begin on September 22 and conclude on October 2. Traditionally observed over nine days, this year’s festival has been extended due to a shortened Pitru Paksha, adding one more day to Navratri. The festival ends with Vijayadashami (Dussehra), a day marked by Durga Visarjan, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
