The Samsung Unpacked event is just around the corner, and the South Korean tech giant is said to unveil its next-gen smartphones, smartwatches and more during the event. The Galaxy Watch 9 series is one of the devices expected to launch during the event. While the company has been tight-lipped about the details of the upcoming smartwatch, a new leak has recently revealed that the wearable will land with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, ditching the in-house Exynos chipset. With the inclusion of the new chipset, the device is anticipated to deliver faster performance, better battery efficiency, and improved on-device AI features. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series.

The leaked renders also suggest that Samsung is keeping the overall design similar to the previous generation. The Galaxy Watch 9 is shown in white, navy, olive green, and black colour options with matching silicone sports bands.

Tipster Evan Blass recently shared the official promotional images of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series through his Leakmail newsletter on Substack. The leaked material reveals the key features of the wearable along with the colour options and internal components.

Leaks suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 will be powered by the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, which is built on TSMC’s 3nm process. If the leak is true, then this would be the first time Samsung would be moving away from its Exynos smartwatch processor for its flagship wearable lineup.’

With the new chipset, the device is said to offer around 50 per cent better performance than the previous Exynos W1000 while also improving power efficiency and reducing heat generation.

Moreover, the smart wearable is also tipped to feature a dedicated neural processing unit, which will enable the AI tasks to run directly on the smartwatch instead of depending on a connected smartphone or cloud servers. The AI features are expected to include smart message replies and real-time fitness guidance even when the phone is not nearby.

Aside from that, the device is also rumoured to come with 2GB memory with an internal storage that goes up to 64GB. Out of the box, the smartwatch is anticipated to run on Wear OS 7 with the One UI 9 Watch interface.

The leaks also suggest that the wearable will be available in two sizes, notably the 40mm and 44mm. According to rumours, the 40mm model will come equipped with a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED display, along with a 325mAh battery, whereas the 44mm model will boast a 1.5-inch Super AMOLED display and 445mAh battery.

The leaked promotional material also highlights that the smartwatch may sport features like a Vitals Tracker, sleep apnoea monitoring, and a Running Assistant.
