They target users who want point-of-view photo and video capture without holding a phone, along with hands-free access to Meta’s AI assistant.

Price and availability

The Oakley Meta HSTN Glasses start at Rs 41,800 in India for the Clear and Prizm lens variants. The Prizm Polarised option costs Rs 44,200, while the Prizm Transition model is priced at Rs 47,600. All variants are available via Sunglass Hut and leading eyewear retailers starting 1 December. You can check them out on the official Meta website.

The Oakley variant has been available in the global markets since June this year.

Specifications

The glasses use a 12MP camera, an upgrade over the first-generation Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. They can record PoV video at up to 3K resolution at 30fps with a 100-degree field of view. Standard, Slow motion, and Hyperlapse modes are supported. Still images are captured at 3024 x 4032 pixels, and users can livestream to Instagram and other Meta platforms.

It sports five microphones that capture spatial audio, while open-ear speakers handle calls and music. The storage is fixed at 32GB, enough for more than 1,000 photos and over 100 short video clips. An LED on the frame acts as a privacy indicator during recording. Connectivity includes integration with Apple Music, Spotify, and other apps through Meta AI commands. These new glasses are rated to run for up to eight hours, with the bundled charging case offering up to 48 hours of total use.

So, compared to Meta’s earlier smart glasses, the key upgrades include 3K video capture, a wider FoV, and Oakley’s sport-oriented frame design. The improved microphone system should help with clearer voice commands and better audio capture in active environments. Meta’s AI assistant is central to the experience, letting users fetch information, manage music, and control camera functions hands-free. For India, this expands Meta’s AI ecosystem beyond phones and Facebook apps into wearables.

The main rival in India is the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, which offer similar AI features in a lifestyle-focused frame. They start at a lower price and may suit users who prefer classic eyewear styling.

The glasses rely heavily on the Meta AI ecosystem, so users should check compatibility with the apps they use daily. Storage is fixed and may feel limiting for long 3K video sessions. Another thing to note is that open-ear speakers can leak sound in noisy environments. Buyers should also evaluate fit, as the HSTN frame leans towards a sport style that may not suit everyone.
