A rare celestial event is set to dazzle the night sky on February 28, 2025, as seven planets in our solar system will align in a spectacular planetary parade. This unique phenomenon, featuring Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, is a once-in-a-generation event, with the next similar alignment not expected until 2040. Stargazers in India will have a great opportunity to witness this cosmic show.
Planetary alignments occur occasionally, but seeing all seven planets together in the sky is extremely rare. The alignment technically began in January, with six planets already visible. However, the final piece of the puzzle—Mercury—will join on February 28, completing the lineup.
Unlike partial alignments where only a few planets are visible, this event brings all the major planets on the same side of the Sun.

The best time to catch this rare alignment in India is about 45 minutes after sunset. During this window, the planets will be best positioned before they start disappearing below the horizon.
No matter where you are—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Pune, or Ahmedabad—choosing a dark location away from city lights will significantly enhance visibility. Open spaces like parks or areas on the outskirts of cities provide the best viewing conditions. Also, keeping an eye on the weather forecast is essential to ensure clear skies for an uninterrupted experience.
