While speculations suggest the new product would be the Redmi 2 smartphone, there is no official word on the same.

Xiaomi is gearing up to launch a new product in India on March 12. The company posted through its Mi India Facebook page and Twitter handle, kicking off a contest, which grants users priority passes to a new product that is to be launched on March 12. The contest takes users to a grid of letters, asking them to find three keywords, which relate to the product.

While speculations are that this would lead to the launch of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 in India, there’s no official word on the same. Xiaomi had said during the launch of the Xiaomi Mi4 that the next version of its budget Redmi smartphone would be coming to India soon.

While we are still unsure on what this new product would be, we did see the terms Dual-SIM, Micro-SD and Charge on the grid. All these could easily point towards the new version of the Redmi smartphone. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 was launched in China a few months ago. The device boasts the new Snapdragon 410 SoC along with a 16GB internal storage and 1GB of RAM. There is also a 2GB version available.
