We have already heard that Apple iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may get a variable aperture camera feature. Now the latest leaks suggest that Samsung may also bring it back with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, something that the brand experimented with a few years back after the Samsung Galaxy S9 series debuted a dual-aperture system. This comes after a popular tipster claimed that Samsung, along with Huawei, is currently testing 200MP primary sensors with adjustable aperture mechanisms.
Many reports suggest that, if it debuts, this would allow the camera to dynamically control how much light enters the lens, opening wider in low light conditions for brighter images and narrowing in well-lit environments to avoid overexposure. Combined with a high-resolution sensor, this may improve detail retention, specifically in close-up shots.

To be honest, this is not a wow feature. Many brands, including Xiaomi and Honor, have already offered the feature, and now Apple and Samsung can bring it back as fashion with their iPhone 18 Pro series and Galaxy S27 Ultra. So far, both the Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max offer a fixed aperture setup with primary camera, telephoto, and ultrawide sensor.
It should be noted that Samsung has not confirmed these plans so far. If true, we may get to see it at the launch event, possibly in February or March next year. Till then, the users are advised to take all the updates with a pinch of salt.
While it is too early to talk about the pricing, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to be priced at Rs 1,39,999 for the base variant. Again, these details are not confirmed yet.
