Will Samsung be able to tighten its grip in the Indian market with the new budget smartphone?

Samsung's latest Galaxy J1 smartphone is now available in India via Amazon.in for Rs. 7,190. The Galaxy J1 is the new Samsung mobile line up that is aimed at the budget segment.

The Samsung Galaxy J1 features a 4.3-inch WVGA display. It sports 5 MP rear camera with LED flash  and a 2 MP front snapper. It comes with a Palm Selfie feature, which allows you to click selfies with a simple hand gesture.

The Galaxy J1 comes with 4GB of internal storage, supports expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD. For connectivity, the smartphone supports dual-SIM, Wi-Fi b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It is powered by an 1850 mAh battery.

Samsung is making all out efforts to maintain its grip in the emerging markets such as India where it is facing massive competition from the local brands such as Micromax, and Chinese brands such as Xiaomi.  Samsung has lagged mainly because of not focussing on the budget segments where local and Chinese brands have gone big.
