Telecom operators Jio and Airtel recently announced their voice-only recharge plans in India following a directive from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The telecom watchdog directed these companies to introduce voice-only tariffs under their catalogue alongside other free data options. However, if you are planning to check which telecom company has introduced cheaper plans? Which one offers more benefits?
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the voice-only plans of Airtel and Jio.

28 Days: Jio’s latest recharge plan for 28 days is priced at Rs 177 and offers unlimited calls and 300 SMS. Airtel’s plan with the same validity costs Rs 185. It offers unlimited calling, 300 SMS and a free hellotunes benefit.
30 Days: Jio offers a Rs 196 plan which offers unlimited calls and 300 SMS for 30 days. Airtel’s Rs 203 recharge gets the same calling and SMS benefits and an additional free hellotunes benefit.
One month: Jio’s Rs 197 pack comes with a validity of one calendar month and unlimited calling and 300 SMS, while Airtel’s Rs 206 pack offers the same benefits for one month alongside free hellotunes.
84 Days: The Rs 448 plan of Jio offers unlimited calling, 1,000 SMS and JioTV and JioAICloud benefits. In comparison, Airtel’s Rs 469 plan offers unlimited calls, 900 SMS, an Adobe Express Premium 12-month subscription worth Rs 4,000, Airtel Safe (for spam call alerts, fraud link blocking and protection from OTP-based banking scams) and free HelloTunes.
Lastly, Airtel has a Rs 1,849 voice-only pack with unlimited calls for 365 days, 3,600 SMS and other similar benefits like the Rs 469 plan. Jio has a similar plan (priced at Rs 1,748) with unlimited calls, 3,600 SMS, JioTV and JioAICloud benefits for 336 days.
Jio offers better pricing across its recharges and does not stop incoming calls after the recharge pack expires (we suggest you recharge at least within 90 days of plan expiry to ensure the number remains registered in your name). Airtel can be a good choice for people who want free Hello Tunes and additional benefits such as Adobe Express Premium, Airtel Safe and more, and can pay slightly more in exchange for these.
