Oppo has officially confirmed that the Reno 16 series is coming to India, teasing the launch through a dedicated microsite and its social handles. While an exact launch date has not been announced, the teaser confirms that the lineup will be sold through Amazon India and will be accompanied by two other products: the Enco Air 5 TWS earbuds and the Oppo Bubble, a magnetic selfie display accessory. Based on the teasers and a string of recent leaks, here is everything currently known about the Reno 16 series ahead of its India launch.
The headline design feature is exclusive to the Starry White variant. Oppo calls it the 3D Pop Planet Design, built using what the company describes as HoloVerse 3D technology, a dual-layer optical structure combining a graphic layer with a microlens array. The effect is meant to make a celestial planet motif appear suspended beneath the glass surface with a stereoscopic, naked-eye 3D look from any viewing angle. The Reno 16 series will be available in three colourways: Starry White, Twilight Violet and Stellar Purple.
The series introduces a new physical button to the Reno lineup called the AI Snap Key, positioned on the side of the phone in a similar vein to OnePlus’s AI Plus Key. A single press saves on-screen content to Mind Space, a long press records a quick voice note and a double press opens Mind Space directly. The key can also be reassigned to standard shortcuts like the camera, flashlight, translator or recorder. Mind Space itself is paired with what Oppo calls AI Mind Pilot, which brings together Gemini, Perplexity and ChatGPT into a single interface.
Since the Reno 16 series has made its debut in China back in May, we expect more or less the same hardware when it launches in India. The standard Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600 nits of peak brightness with bezels as narrow as 1.6mm contributing to a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. It measures 8.22mm thick and weighs 188g.
The Reno 16 Pro features a larger 6.78-inch FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,600nits of peak brightness. It measures 7.7mm in thickness and weighs 205g.
The standard Reno 16 is powered by the Dimensity 8500 Super and the Reno 16 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 9500s. Both phones have a 200MP main camera, 50MP telephoto camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP selfie camera.
The Reno 16 is powered by a 6,700 mAh battery while the Reno 16 Pro has a 7,000mAh battery. Both phones support 80W fast wired charging with the Reno 16 Pro also supporting 50W wireless charging.
As per a report by 91Mobiles, the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro will be accompanied by the Reno 16c at the India launch. The Reno 16c steps up to a larger 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with the same 120Hz refresh rate but a slightly lower 1,400 nits peak brightness, at 8.44mm thickness and approximately 195g. The phone is tipped to use a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The leaked rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens offering 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera, with a 50MP front camera for selfies. If accurate, the telephoto upgrade would be a notable step up over the Reno 15c. The Reno 16c is also rumoured to pack a 6,500mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC fast charging.
The Oppo Bubble is a compact, circular display that attaches magnetically to the back of supported Oppo phones, creating a secondary screen that shows a live preview while using the rear camera for selfies and group photos. It is a genuinely functional accessory rather than a pure gimmick, aimed squarely at users who want better selfie quality than a front camera typically delivers.
The Enco Air 5 earbuds, also confirmed for the India launch, get a Bluetooth 6.1 upgrade over the previous generation for better resistance to interference in crowded signal environments. Each earbud weighs 4.3g, and the buds support low-latency audio for gaming, simultaneous dual-device connection across Android and iOS, and customisable tap and long-press gesture controls.
Ahead of the official launch, Oppo is offering a Rs 9 privilege pack that includes an exchange coupon worth Rs 800, a Rs 1,000 discount on the Oppo Pad SE, a free Oppo Enco Buds 3 Pro and a Reno 16 series phone case. The exact launch date details are still awaited.
