The latest Android P Developer Preview brings OxygenOS features like Face Unlock and the ability to change system accent colours on the OnePlus 6.

At I/O 2018, Google announced the Android P Developer Previews will be available across flagship devices other than the Pixel series. As a result, the latest Android P Developer Preview 2 is now available in the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Essential Phone, Sony Xperia XZ2 and more recently, the OnePlus 6. The latest Developer Preview comes with support for other OxygenOS features as well, on top of the new improvements Android P brings.

The update was spotted by XDA member floo71 on Baidu and shortly after, it was announced on OnePlus’ Chinese forums. The changelog has been provided by XDA Developers along with a step-by-step process of how to install it.

The new update brings Face Unlock along with Google Lens integration in the camera app. It also fixes a few stability issues. However, some features like the Wi-Fi device manager, camera portrait mode and more are not working.

XDA users spotted some more additions which include the ability to change system accent colours in the Settings app. You can also turn on Ambient Display. Other features include the ability to hide the notch and full-screen gestures.

Finally, Google Lens is now integrated in the camera app. Lens is Google’s Computer Vision-powered visual identification app. Turn on the feature and tap an item in the frame and Google Lens will try to identify it.

To install the update, you need to do a full wipe of the system. The ROM file is available on Google Drive. A backup of all the files is definitely recommended and you will need TWRP recovery installed. For a detailed process of installing, read our article.
