OnePlus 5 is rumoured to launch with a new design and sport an improved display. The handset is already the most anticipated smartphone of 2017

OnePlus' next flagship smartphone is likely to be named OnePlus 5 and not OnePlus 4. The company is reportedly jumping to number 5 due to Chinese belief that number 4 brings bad luck. If rumoured specifications are anything to go by, OnePlus seems to be preparing another flagship killer to take on the likes of Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+.

According to Chinese publication PCPop, OnePlus will feature Snapdragon 835 chipset, the processor powering Samsung's latest Galaxy flagship. The smartphone is rumoured to feature a sleeker design and most rumours point at OnePlus joining the bezel-less smartphone bandwagon. The smartphone is also tipped to offer improved display which might suggest a Quad HD panel.

In terms of specifications, OnePlus 5 is rumoured to offer up to 8GB RAM with 6GB being standard among variants. It is not clear whether OnePlus will bundle any performance intensive feature like virtual reality or augmented reality to make use of extra memory. The rumour mill also hints at OnePlus 5 sporting dual rear camera setup, again a theme among most Chinese smartphone makers.

With the success of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, OnePlus' next flagship smartphone is already the most anticipated device of this year. If these hardware specifications turn out to be true and OnePlus brings a new bezel-less design then the company might deliver another flagship killer smartphone.
