HIGHLIGHTS

The OnePlus 5 will be sold exclusively on Amazon.in, from 2pm on June 22. Pricing for India is yet to be confirmed.

After months of leaks and rumours, the OnePlus 5 is finally official, confirming pretty much every leak you’ve seen so far. The phone runs on the 2.45 GHz Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm, has a 5.5 inch FHD Optic AMOLED display and two camera sensors on its back. These include a 16MP regular camera and another 20MP telephoto camera, which will be used for zooming into photos, much like Apple’s concept on the iPhone 7 Plus (review).

There are two variants of the OnePlus 5. There’s one with 64GB storage and 6GB of RAM, and another one with 8GB of RAM and 128GB ROM. The 6/64GB variant is available in slate grey, while the 8/128GB version will be sold in the “midnight black” colour. The phones are priced globally at $479 and $539, respectively. Although Indian pricing hasn’t been confirmed just yet, the phone is expected to cost Rs. 32,999 and Rs. 35,999 here. The OnePlus 5 will be sold on Amazon India from June 22, at 2pm.

While the OnePlus 5 will primarily be sold online, there will be pop-up stores where you can get the phone. We’re not quite sure whether this is going to be followed in India as well, but OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau had said earlier, that the phone will be easier to buy this time. In fact, the company even has a pop-up event scheduled for Delhi this week, and other states after that.
