Motorola may launch the Moto G Turbo Edition in India this Thursday. The company has been posting a series of tweets teasing the features of the upcoming smartphone with the hashtag, ‘TurboMode’. Yesterday, Motorola India tweeted, “Power up and get ready for #TurboMode! 3 Days to go for Moto G Turbo edition. Coming soon!”. The tweets also hinted at certain features of the new phone. One of the tweets alluded to the phone’s IP67 certification saying, “Never think twice before stepping out and enjoying the rains, live life to its fullest. #TurboMode coming soon!”

The Moto G Turbo Edition is pretty similar to the Moto G (3rd Gen) with the major exception being the processor. The new Turbo Edition comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC as compared to the quad-core Snapdragon 410 found on the Moto G 3rd Gen. The Moto X Play also uses a Snapdragon 615 SoC. Other specifications of the Turbo Edition includes a 5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB. The phone has a 13MP at the back with a 5MP front camera. The device is equipped with a 2470mAh battery and runs Android Lollipop v5.1.1. Additionally, the Moto G Turbo Edition supports Motorola’s TurboPower charging technology.

The Motorola Moto G (3rd Gen) was launched in India earlier this year. The phone has two variants, one with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage and the other with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The phone was priced at Rs. 11,999 when it was launch. Motorola India’s General Manager, Amit Boni had stated during its launch that existing users of the Moto G could exchange their old phone for a substantial discount.
