iOS 18.4 rolls out in India: Eligible iPhones, new features, how to download and use

After months of anticipation, Apple has officially launched its Apple Intelligence features in India with the iOS 18.4 update. This update introduces several AI-powered tools to enhance writing, photography, and overall user experience on iPhones.

iOS 18.4 eligible devices

The update is available for a wide range of iPhones, including:

• iPhone 16 series
• iPhone 15 series
• iPhone 14 series
• iPhone 13 series
• iPhone 12 series
• iPhone 11 series
• iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
• iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)

However, Apple Intelligence features are only supported on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models.

New Apple Intelligence features

Apple Intelligence introduces new features designed to enhance writing, photos, messaging, and daily tasks. Writing Tools help users refine their text across apps like Mail, Messages, and Notes. The Rewrite feature allows users to adjust the tone of their writing, Proofread corrects grammar and suggests edits, while Summarise condenses lengthy text into a more readable format. 

The Photos app now enables users to search for pictures using simple descriptions. The new Clean Up tool removes unwanted objects from photos, and the Image Playground app allows users to generate fun and unique images with different themes and styles. Image Playground app is also there to allow users to create fun and unique images with different themes and styles.

Another feature is Genmoji which lets users create custom emojis simply by typing a description. These unique emojis can be used in Messages for more personalised conversations.

Siri is now more intelligent, understanding natural conversations, tracking previous requests, and answering detailed questions.   

Another useful addition is Visual Intelligence, which helps users identify objects, translate text, and create calendar events from posters.

How to download iOS 18.4 update

To update your iPhone to iOS 18.4, follow these steps:

• Unlock your iPhone and go to Settings.
• Tap General.
• Now, select Software Update.
• If an update is available, tap Download/ Install.

If automatic updates are enabled, your device will install the update overnight while charging.
