Fujitsu to launch 7-inch Android tablet in Q3 2011

Updated on 20-May-2011

Japanese giant, Fujitsu, has announced it will be launching a 7-inch Android tablet in Q3 2011. While it is expected to run Android 3.1 Honeycomb, there has been no official word on the matter, and no other details on the specifications, or even a name. It’s probable it will be powered by the dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2, like so many of its Honeycomb predecessors, however, there is some speculation that Fujitsu might be one of the first adopters of Intel’s new Atom offerings.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]Fujitsu announced it will be pricing the tablet between $347-694, and will be outsourcing production of the device to Taiwan for lower costs. While we don’t expect the tablet to make its way to India initially, just Europe, Japan, and the U.S., it’s possible the market in India for Android tablets and devices will attract the giant. After all, Acer, Samsung, Motorola, RIM, and Apple have all made their way into India with their tablet offerings

Along with this announcement, Fujitsu declared with would be making some changes to its existing 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet for enterprises, the LifeBook TH40/D, by adding stylus support, and a 3.5G wireless module, by the time it launches it in Taiwan. New Series and P-series notebooks were also announced.
