HIGHLIGHTS

In a surprising move, Foxconn has issued a press release, confirming that 4.7-in and 5.5-in iPhones will be launched by Apple this year.

All the rumours surrounding the next iPhone's screen size have been confirmed by Foxconn, the Taiwanese manufacturer and one of Apple's biggest partners. In a press release issued today by Foxconn Global, the company confirmed that Apple will indeed be launching phones with 4.7-in and 5.5-in variants of the iPhone in 2014. According to the press release, Foxconn will manufacture both variants and expects to be responsible for 70% of the global inventory of the 4.7-in iPhone. It appears very strange that Foxconn would preempt Apple in making an official announcement about the new iPhone variants, especially since the news itself is significant. In order to validate that Foxconn was indeed confirming the existence of the two iPhones through the press release, we contacted the media representatives of the company in India, who in turn corroborated the information in the release.

Below is the complete reproduction of the Foxconn press release:

"Foxconn, world's leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, is going to manufacture both 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch iPhone in 2014.

According the sources, Foxconn will supply 70% of the 4.7-inch iPhone shipments for 2015. The 4- and 4.7-inch iPhones will be the main sales force of Apple for 2014. Foxconn's plants in Zhengzhou, China are expected to start supplying the 4.7-inch model in July and start manufacturing the 5.5-inch one in August."
