Apple is currently making headlines as it is likely preparing to launch its iPhone 17 series next month. Well, the next-gen iPhones always create buzz. But for a long time now, there have also been several leaks and rumours about a potential foldable iPhone. Now, a new report suggests that Apple could finally launch its first foldable phone in 2026.
According to Bloomberg, the device will follow a book-style design similar to Samsung’s foldables. When unfolded, it will likely open into a small tablet. This model is expected to come with four cameras: one on the front, one inside and two on the back. Interestingly, Apple’s foldable phone may not include a SIM card slot and could instead rely on eSIM technology. Also, the tech giant is said to use Touch ID for this model instead of Face ID.

Apple’s suppliers are already said to be working on the foldable iPhone and could start production early next year, aiming for a fall 2026 launch. For now, Apple is testing only black and white colour options.
On the hardware front, the foldable iPhone is expected to include the C2 modem, Apple’s first in-house cellular chip. Furthermore, the company initially planned to use on-cell touch sensors, but these reportedly created issues like visible creases on the display. To solve this, Apple is likely switching to in-cell touch screens.
