Samsung recently launched its much-anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 8. The new foldable comes with a wider 5.5-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch inner display. The inner screen has a 4:3 aspect ratio, giving the phone a passport-like design when unfolded. Apple may soon enter the foldable phone market as well. The company is rumoured to launch its first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, on September 9. Like Samsung’s latest foldable, Apple’s device is also expected to feature a passport-style design.
This would set up a direct battle between the two premium foldables. But how different could Apple’s first foldable iPhone be from the Galaxy Z Fold 8? Here is a look at the key expected differences between the two phones.
The Apple iPhone Ultra is expected to sport a 7.8-inch display, while the outer screen may be 5.5 inches. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 7.6-inch inner foldable screen, while the cover display is 5.5 inches.
The iPhone Ultra is said to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro, and may be backed by a 4,883 mAh battery. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, and equips a 4,800mAh dual battery.
The iPhone Ultra is expected to house a 48MP dual camera setup on the back. For selfies and video calls, the foldable iPhone may feature an 18MP camera on both displays. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 also has a dual rear camera setup, but with 50MP sensors. For selfies, the phone has two 10MP cameras, one on the outer display and another on the main display.
As per leaks, the Apple iPhone Ultra is expected to start around Rs 1,90,000 to Rs 2,50,000. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at Rs 1,79,999 and goes up to Rs 2,39,999.
