The iPhone Fold could feature two rear cameras and a single front camera.

For a long time now, we’ve been hearing a lot about Apple’s plans to launch a foldable iPhone. Over the past few months, several leaks and rumours have surfaced online, giving us a rough idea of what features the device may offer. Now, a new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg sheds more light on the upcoming device, and it suggests that the foldable iPhone could mark the biggest design shift the iPhone has ever seen.

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims that Apple’s first foldable iPhone will be ‘the most significant overhaul in the iPhone’s history and the first actual form-factor change.’ According to him, the device could stand out even compared to some of the most iconic iPhones launched in the past. ‘iPhone 4, iPhone 6 and iPhone X were clearly a big deal, but this is a whole new design,’ he said.

Apple iPhone Fold: Expected specifications, price and launch timeline

Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to follow a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. In simple terms, the phone may open like a book. Leaks suggest that the device could feature a 7.7-inch inner display and a 5.3-inch outer screen. Apple is also expected to optimise iOS 27 for the foldable form factor. This could allow apps to run side-by-side and support multitasking features similar to those found on iPads.

While earlier rumours suggested the foldable screen might be almost completely crease-free, newer reports claim Apple may instead use technology that reduces the crease without eliminating it entirely.

For photography, the iPhone Fold could feature two rear cameras and a single front camera. The phone may also ditch Face ID and instead include a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button.

Apple is expected to unveil the foldable iPhone in September this year, alongside the iPhone 18 series. As far as the pricing is concerned, leaks suggest that the foldable iPhone may start at or above $1,999 in the US.
