HIGHLIGHTS

Apple is expected to bring Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro users in a future software update.

Users will likely be able to trigger the feature using the Action Button or a dedicated button in the Control Center.

The update is expected to arrive with iOS 18.4.

Apple first introduced Visual Intelligence with the iPhone 16 lineup in September, making it an exciting new way to interact with the world using your iPhone’s camera. The feature lets users point their camera at objects to get instant information about them, much like Google Lens. However, it was initially limited to devices with the Camera Control button. Now, Apple is expected to bring Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro users in a future software update.

Apple representatives have confirmed to John Gruber of Daring Fireball that the iPhone 15 Pro will soon support Visual Intelligence. Users will likely be able to trigger the feature using the Action Button or a dedicated button in the Control Center. Until now, iPhone 15 Pro users couldn’t access Visual Intelligence because it required the Camera Control button, which is absent on this model.

This news aligns with Apple’s decision to bring Visual Intelligence to the iPhone 16E, which also lacks the Camera Control button but will use the Action Button instead. It seems like Apple always had plans to expand the feature but may have waited for a strategic moment, possibly after the iPhone 16E announcement.

Apple has not provided an exact timeline for when Visual Intelligence will roll out to the iPhone 15 Pro. However, Gruber speculates that the update might arrive with iOS 18.4. This version is expected to enter developer beta soon and could be available to the public by early April. If this speculation is correct, iPhone 15 Pro users won’t have to wait much longer to try out this feature.
