After unveiling its new Android update, which is not named after a dessert to denote inclusivity, Google recently started rolling out its first stable build for its Pixel series of handsets. The new update brings a slew of features to the Android ecosystem like a system-wide dark mode, better security and privacy, in-built support for foldable devices and more. Alongside Pixel handsets, there are some other phones as well, which are now getting the update. Android 10 is being rolled out for ṭhe Redmi K20 Pro, the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and some more smartphones.
The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro has started receiving the Android 10 update as a part of the MIUI 10 stable beta program for users in India and China. However, one needs to apply for the program, which closed down on September 8. The list of users who got into the program will be announced on September 11. Those who are selected will get a social OTA update access to the update and will be included in a user group called Android 10 Tester.
The CPO of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, released a timeline for the Android 10 update rollout to Nokia handsets. The update will roll out starting from Q4 2019 and will be first made available for the Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 9 PureView smartphones. In the early first quarter of 2020, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 7 Plus will be updated, while the Nokia 2.2, Nokia 3.1 Plus Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 are slated to get the update sometime in the middle of Q1 next year.
The Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco should get the Android 10 update by the end of Q1 2020. Finally, the Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 1 phones are bound to receive the update by Q2 2020. Nokia usually sticks to its stated schedule when it comes to software updates and since all of its smartphones are Android One phones, it is not much of a surprise if the company does manage to roll out updates in time.
OnePlus 7 series of smartphones consist of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. The two devices are now receiving the Android 10 update under the Open Beta program. With Android 10, both the phones get full screen gestures, a new UI, upgraded Ambient Display and much more. However, there are a couple of new issues with the update like some app compatibility issues and relatively lower system stability.
Samsung is yet to officially announce the rollout or testing of Android 10 on its phones. However, some recent images of a Samsung Galaxy S10+ running on Android 10 surfaced online, suggesting that the company is testing the latest Android build on its flagship handsets. It is possible that the smartphone maker is gearing up to roll out One UI 2.0, the next iteration of its UI, which is said to be based on Android 10. Additionally, chances are that the latest Android flavour will be rolled out for the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 smartphones.
Essential Phone is known for making the latest Android updates available on the same day as Google releases them. No surprise here that Android 10 is now available to download on Essential phone. However, the company says that it will be available to select Open Market customers.
