9 Sony Xperia smartphones to be updated to Android 9 Pie

The list includes the Sony Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact

Sony has announced that a total of nine smartphones are in line to get the new Android 9 Pie update. The first set of smartphones to get the update will be the XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact. These devices will be getting the update from November onwards. The Xperia XA2,XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus devices can expect to get the update in early 2019. 

In a post on its blog, the company writes, “we always aim for the quickest possible upgrade rollout from the time Google makes its announcement to when it reaches your smartphone. And it’s essential that Sony engineers have the time to implement all our feature upgrades and test devices to meet our high quality standards.”

Besides the announcement, the company also posted an infographic to show how a new Android rollout works and its journey from Google to an Xperia smartphone user, through Sony’s teams of developers. You can check out the infographic below.
