1Password app on iOS 8 will replace passwords with your fingerprint

HIGHLIGHTS

Third-party iOS 8 apps will be able to ‘talk’ to 1Password to make signing in an easier process.

Popular iOS password manager app, 1Password may soon let you log into websites and apps with just your fingerprint without requiring you to remember a single password. Thanks to iOS 8’s ability to let apps to ‘talk’ to each other, apps will soon be able to use your 1Password vault to let you sign in without leaving the app either.

AgileBits, the developer behind 1Password, claims that it has made it easy for third-party app developers to integrate the 1Password sign-in system for iOS 8 devices. It has also released a video showing how easy it will be to sign in to apps and websites with the 1Password app.

As the video shows, apps integrated with 1Password will show a small icon next to the password field. Tapping this icon will let users choose 1Password from a bottom panel which will then let you choose to login either through TouchID (the fingerprint scanner) or by typing in the master password. This works in the same way for websites as well on browsers integrated with 1Password.

Apple is also launching its own password manager, iCloud Keychain with iOS 8 which will let users store multiple passwords.
