Samsung’s first laptops to ship with 18A processors

When we talk about the Galaxy Book6 Pro and Galaxy Book6 Ultra, the biggest story is not the sleek aluminium chassis or even the eye-catching QD-OLED panels. It is what lies under the hood. The Galaxy Book6 Pro and Galaxy Book6 Ultra are Samsung’s first laptops to ship with 18A or 1.8nm-class processors, marking a major shift in how the company approaches performance and power efficiency in its PC lineup. Both laptops are powered by Intel Core Ultra Processor Series 3 chips, paired with at least 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage across configurations.

The Galaxy Book6 Pro comes in 14-inch and 16-inch variants and relies on integrated Intel Arc graphics, which should be more than capable for productivity workloads, creative apps, and light content creation. The Galaxy Book6 Ultra, on the other hand, clearly targets power users. While its base variant sticks to integrated graphics, higher-end configurations can be paired with Nvidia RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 GPUs, pushing it firmly into creator and performance laptop territory.

To support this jump in horsepower, Samsung has redesigned the cooling system entirely. A new fan design combined with an improved vapour chamber allows the laptops to sustain performance for longer periods while also improving power efficiency. This matters more than raw specs, especially for professionals who spend hours compiling code, editing videos, or rendering assets without wanting their laptop to throttle or sound like a jet engine.

Display, design, and pricing

Samsung has focused heavily on display quality, something it has always done well. Both the Galaxy Book 6 Pro and 6 Ultra feature QD-OLED panels with a sharp 3K resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. Peak HDR brightness goes up to 1,000 nits, and the variable refresh rate can scale up to 120Hz. Corning Gorilla Glass with DXC protection and an anti-reflective coating should make these screens just as usable in bright environments as they are impressive indoors.

Audio and input also get meaningful upgrades. The Ultra model features a six-speaker system with four woofers and two tweeters, while the 14-inch Pro uses a quad-speaker setup. Both laptops introduce large, centrally aligned haptic trackpads for the first time on Galaxy Book devices, paired with backlit keyboards for low-light use. Connectivity is future-ready with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1, USB Type-A, and a headphone jack, along with a 2MP webcam and a fingerprint reader built into the power button.

Talking about pricing, the Galaxy Book 6 Pro starts at KRW 2.6 million and goes up to KRW 3.51 million, while the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra ranges from KRW 4.62 million to KRW 4.91 million depending on configuration. Both models are available through Samsung Stores, the official website, and retail partners in South Korea. Early buyers between January 27 and March 31 also get a bundle of extras, including a limited-edition Hunter laptop bag, discounted accessories, Galaxy SmartTag 2 offers, and multiple software subscriptions.

Moreover, the laptops are expected to launch in the US in spring this year. There is no confirmation about an India launch yet.
