Googlebook is finally getting its big reveal next month: Everything you need to know

Earlier this month, images of Google’s first ever Googlebook, built by Lenovo, had surfaced online. Digital Citizen claimed to have exclusive images of the device and that really got the internet talking. The images showed Lenovo’s Googlebook in several exciting colours, with each one of them featuring Lenovo’s logo at the lid. But all these images weren’t shared officially so that information had to be taken with a pinch of salt. Now, however, it looks like we might finally get to see the product officially.

The people at Google have just confirmed that they will host an in-person Googlebook Showcase in New York City on September 15. The event is expected to focus on the software, Gemini features and the Android foundation behind Googlebooks. In addition to this, laptop makers including Lenovo, Asus and HP are also expected to show off their hardware.

Googlebook is finally getting its big reveal

As mentioned already, Google has confirmed that it will host the Googlebook showcase in New York on September 15. According to an official invite received by Chrome Unboxed, the event will include a keynote from Google leadership covering the new computing platform, its software and the native Android codebase powering Googlebooks.

The company introduced Googlebooks at The Android Show earlier this year, alongside Android 17. At the time, Google said these premium laptops were being built from the ground up with Gemini Intelligence in mind.

Google also showed off a few features that could make Googlebooks different from traditional Chromebooks. These included the ability to create custom widgets using Gemini, a feature called Magic Pointer and deeper integration with Android smartphones.

However, apart from this, not much was revealed. Even during the recent Pixel 11 launch, the company only confirmed that more information about Googlebooks would arrive this fall.

What can we expect from the event?

So, what can you expect from this event? If reports are to go by, there could be hands-on stations featuring Googlebook laptops from its hardware partners like Lenovo, ASUS and HP. If this turns out to be true, it will be our first proper look at the laptops that will actually reach consumers, rather than just Google’s early teasers.

Moreover, Google is also expected to explain how the software works and how Gemini will be integrated into the overall experience.

The reference to a native Android codebase is also interesting. Google has not yet revealed exactly what this means for Googlebooks, but it suggests that the company wants the new platform to have Android at its core rather than simply treating it as another feature.

With the event now less than a month away, we should not have to wait much longer to find out what Google has planned. Are you excited about the Googlebooks? Let us know and keep watching this space for more such updates .
