Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, will reportedly start operations in India within the next two months. This comes after the company got the much-awaited license from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), as per an ANI report. With this, Starlink becomes the third company in India’s satellite broadband space after Eutelsat’s OneWeb and Reliance Jio.

As per the reports, the Starlink early adopters will get a one-month free trial bundled with each device purchase. With this, the customers will be able to test the Starlink services before opting for a monthly plan. The report added that the device plan will be priced at Rs 3,000.

To set up the Starlink kit, the buyers may have to pay a cost of approximately Rs 33,000. It will include a satellite dish and necessary equipment.
In India, Starlink wants to provide high-speed internet, particularly in rural, isolated, and unconnected areas where broadband networks are either nonexistent or challenging to set up. According to reports, Starlink might provide 25–220 Mbps of high-speed internet. Additionally, the company wants to provide speeds quick enough for telehealth, education, remote work, and streaming.
The company currently operates in over 100 countries and provides a variety of residential and roaming plans. It is said to be available in two tiers: Residential Lite for smaller households and full Residential service for higher usage. However, the company has not confirmed any of the information provided above.
