Qualcomm has officially expanded the mid-range Snapdragon 7-series lineup with the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform. The new chipset is designed to offer improved performance, advanced artificial intelligence capabilities and enhanced multimedia experiences for the users. The company also confirmed that the upcoming devices from manufacturers like Honor and Vivo would be the first smartphones to debut with this chipset this month.
The company also stated that the platform will bring support for Gen AI assistants and large language models (LLMs) directly on the device, offering enhanced on-device processing without the need for constant cloud connectivity. It includes the introduction of stable diffusion image generation, which is a first for the 7-series, allowing users to generate images directly on their devices using AI.

“With the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, we are delivering new levels of possibilities in the 7-series with AI-driven experiences built directly into the hardware, making it easier than ever for users to capture, create, and share,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
The chipset also focuses on improving multimedia as it comes with advanced image processing capabilities, making it easier for users to capture high-quality photos and videos. Furthermore, the platform also supports select napdragon Elite Gaming features, which are designed to enhance mobile gaming performance, providing smoother gameplay and better graphics. It has also introduced the Qualcomm Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology to the 7-series for the first time, enabling enhanced connectivity for audio devices.
It also offers Snapdragon Sound technology, which promises high-quality audio experiences, including premium audio codecs and low-latency Bluetooth audio for gaming and multimedia. With these features, the platform aims to offer a more immersive user experience for everyday usage.
