Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch its first-ever extended reality (XR) wearable device, the Project Moohan headset. While the official details remain scarce, the device has recently surfaced on Geekbench, revealing some key specifications of the upcoming device. According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the headset is listed with the model number “SM-I610” on the benchmarking website. It is expected to run on Android XR, Google’s new operating system for XR devices.
Here’s everything that we know about Samsung’s upcoming Project Moohan’s launch timeline, specifications and other details.
While Google, at its recent I/O event, confirmed that the Project Moohan headset will arrive sometime later this year, Samsung has yet to share any details. The company is expected to drop more clues at its next Galaxy Unpacked launch event.
Samsung’s Project Moohan headset is rumoured to be equipped with a Snapdragon chipset featuring six CPU cores, with two running at 2.36 GHz and the other four at a 2.05 GHz clock speed. In terms of performance, the Project Moohan headset has secured 990 points in the single-core test and 2,453 points in the multi-core test.
The benchmark listing also reveals that it will feature an Adreno 740 GPU—the same GPU introduced with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This means the device could ship with the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, a Snapdragon chip designed explicitly for XR. The chipset also features an Adreno 740 GPU, optimised for gaming and 3D environments with high refresh rates.
