Our Verdict
Intel’s latest, the QX6700 Core 2 Extreme processor, is the world’s first quad-core processor to see the light of day. This is the fastest processor we’ve come across till date. Running at 2.66 GHz, it happily fed on all our number-crunching benchmarks, and it has the potential to be utilised better when multi-threaded applications become de rigueur.
This processor did well in almost all the tests we put it through. In a test that supported multi-threading, the QX6700 mutilated the competition. Gaming performance wasn’t the best, but that’s because games will have to recoded to take advantage of multi-core.

The Intel QX6700 Core 2 Extreme is the best processor money can buy right now.

Runner-Up: Intel EX6800 Core 2 Extreme
