Nitin Gadkari launches Times Drive’s ‘Brake the Habit’ safety initiative campaign

Updated on 31-Jul-2025

At the Snapdragon Auto Day event presented by Times Network in New Delhi, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled Brake the Habit, a new road safety campaign by Times Drive focused on promoting safer, more responsible driving and turning road safety into a collective responsibility.

“We’re spending Rs 40,000 crore to fix black spots on highways and reduce accidents. Road safety needs engineering, enforcement, education, and empathy,” said Gadkari.

One of the key moments of the evening was the unveiling of “Parvaah,” a road safety anthem sung by Shankar Mahadevan. The anthem aims to raise awareness around the importance of cautious and responsible driving, especially as India continues to face road safety challenges, an agenda championed by Gadkari.

“Automakers across the world are now testing their cars in India. That’s a testament to the quality of our infrastructure and standards,” Gadkari reiterated.

Times Drive’s Brake the Habit is a national campaign to promote responsible driving and road safety awareness. It is being positioned as a long-term, content-led initiative and aims to shift behavioural patterns among Indian drivers through storytelling, engagement, and on-ground activations, leading up to a large-scale awareness drive during Road Safety Week in January.

Alongside this, Times Network shared updates on Times Drive, its flagship auto platform, which now includes Times Drive AI, an AI-powered assistant to help users choose the right vehicle based on their needs and budget. The platform also plans to add services like insurance suggestions, after-sales info, and resale support.

The Snapdragon Auto Day event brought together auto industry leaders, mobility innovators, and sustainability advocates, reinforcing the role of collaboration between government, industry, and media in shaping a safer future for Indian roads.
