Nikon India has recently launched a new professional telephoto zoom lens under its premium S-Line range, which is designed for photographers specialising in wildlife, sports, and action photography. According to the company, the new lens will help photographers capture distant subjects with greater ease and precision. The new lens combines a constant f/2.8 aperture with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter. The company also confirms that the new lenses are designed for full-frame Nikon Z mirrorless cameras and promises fast autofocus, improved image stability and high image quality in challenging lighting conditions. The NIKKOR Z covers a focal length range of 120mm to 300mm. You can also extend the focal length to 420 mm with its built-in 1.4x teleconverter sensor. When the teleconverter is engaged, the maximum aperture becomes f/4. This gives photographers extra reach for wildlife and sports photography without carrying a separate teleconverter.
In terms of mechanics, the lens uses Nikon’s Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor system that delivers fast, precise and smooth autofocus when tracking moving subjects such as birds, animals and athletes.
To reduce unwanted reflections, ghosting and flare, the lens also sports Nikon’s Meso Amorphous Coat and ARNEO Coat. As per the company, these coatings help maintain the image clarity in difficult lighting, which includes strong backlighting and shaded environments. Furthermore, the optical design of the new lens can deliver high resolution and smooth background blur.
The NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens also reduces camera shake by up to 6.5 stops when used with compatible cameras that support Synchro VR. Talking about the weight, the lens is approximately 2,735 g and uses a magnesium-alloy body with dust- and drip-resistant sealing.
Moreover, it also supports Arca-Swiss tripod clamps, front screw-on filters and rear slip-in filters. According to Nikon, the new lens is around 515 g, lighter than the AF-S NIKKOR 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR, which was launched back in 2020.
The NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S made its debut in the Indian market with a price tag of Rs 14,99,995 and the interested buyers will be able to get it from mid-November 2026. The company has also clarified that it will be available through Nikon India outlets and the company’s official website.
