Meta has finally introduced its Muse Image, its first image generation model developed by the newly formed Meta Superintelligence Labs. The company has also previewed Muse Video, a new AI powered video generation model. It is expected to roll out to creators and Meta AI users in the coming months. Meta is expanding its AI capabilities across Meta AI, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook too.
The Muse Image is now available via the Meta AI app and Meta.ai, while users in the US can also access it via Instagram Stories. WhatsApp support has begun rolling out in select countries.
Unlike the regular models that generate the images directly from prompts, Muse Image uses an agent based system capable of reasoning before producing an image. Meta says the model can search the web for up-to-date information, execute code to generate accurate QR codes, charts and graphics, and refine its own outputs.
The users can also do advanced image editing including modifying specific parts of an image without affecting the rest of the composition. It can also combine multiple reference images in a single prompt and the users can merge people, objects, locations and artistic styles into one scene. The company also claims that the model also improves with additional inference time by spending more time reasoning instead of relying solely on multiple image attempts.
The social media giant also announced the Muse Video, which is built on the same foundation as the Muse Image. The company says the upcoming model focuses on better prompt adherence, improved visual quality and native audio generation. The model is currently under testing.
The company has also introduced the Content Seal, an invisible watermark embedded into AI-generated images. According to the company, the watermark remains intact even after cropping, resizing or compressing an image, helping users identify AI-generated content.
It will also power several new creative features across Meta’s apps, including AI-generated Instagram Story effects, image generation inside WhatsApp chats, and room redesign suggestions using products from the web and Facebook Marketplace.
Meta says Muse Image is available free for everyday use, while higher usage limits will be offered through its subscription plans.
