Intel’s new Moorestown Atom processor platform with high energy efficiency unleashed

The new Intel Atom processor Z6xx (Moorestown) is based on Intel’s new 45nm technology fine-tuned for low-power processes and packed with 140 million transistors into the SoC for an out of the box sublime performance. The platform is said to also include a Controller Hub (MP20) and a dedicated Mixed Signal IC.Chips based on New Atom Processor platform architecture are rated to deliver more than 50% platform idle power reduction while increasing performance and reducing size.

 

Moorestown application in mobile & handheld devices

This platform is expected to redefine the personal computing experience with fast Internet, multitasking, full 1080p video, 3D graphics, multi-point videoconferencing and voice-in-pocketable designs.It is quoted to be a highly integrated platform capable of scaling a range of operating systems and market segments including high-end smartphones, tablets and other handheld devices.
