Annual FASTag Pass - Nitin Gadkari
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) announced a FASTag annual pass scheme for daily commuters, like private cars/jeeps/vans. The annual plan offers a free pass at designated National Highway (NH) and National Motorway (NE) fee plazas for one year or 200 trips, whichever may come first. Starting tomorrow, the Annual Pass will go into effect on August 15, 2025. The plan, once available, is said to reduce the queue time at the toll plaza as well as toll taxes paid by commuters.
Here’s everything to know about the FASTag annual pass.
The FASTag Annual Pass allows private vehicle owners to travel across any national highway or expressway without paying tolls each time, for a fixed cost of Rs 3,000 per year. Once purchased, the pass remains valid until its expiry date, after which users can simply recharge it, just like a regular FASTag.
The Annual Pass can be used at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas. At other locations, such as state highways, roads managed by local authorities, or parking facilities, the FASTag will still work, but normal user fees will apply.
The pass is valid for one year from the activation date or for 200 trips, whichever comes first. Once either limit is reached, the pass automatically reverts to functioning as a regular FASTag. To continue enjoying unlimited NH and NE travel, users must renew the pass for another year, which resets the 200-trip allowance.
The scheme is available only for private, non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, based on details in the VAHAN database. Using it in a commercial vehicle will lead to immediate deactivation without prior notice.

The Annual Pass is entirely optional. Drivers who choose not to buy it can continue using their existing FASTag system for regular toll payments at standard rates.
