After teasing X Money for years, Elon Musk is finally bringing payment services to X (formerly Twitter) soon. With the beta version already rolling out to a limited number of users, the feature is expected to launch later this year. While the exact launch date has yet to be announced, Musk recently stated that the feature will undergo limited beta testing before being rolled out to all. According to reports, the platform will also support cryptocurrency transactions.
Here’s everything we know about Musk’s digital payment services – X Money.
While there are no official details on the availability of X Money, the digital payment service is expected to be accessible on the microblogging site by the end of this year. Musk plans to transform the X from a social media app into the “everything app.”
Musk, who is highly active on X, has said that the app’s beta version is available for very limited access. He also noted that ‘extreme care’ needs to be taken as people’s savings are involved. However, there are no official details on eligibility and regional availability of the X Money beta.
Notably, X Money is expected to support crypto transactions as well, including Bitcoin. Additionally, Musk is also working with Visa to facilitate transactions initiated via X Money. X CEO Linda Yaccarino has confirmed the partnership with Visa via her official X handle.
Musk has been working on payment support on X since 2022, and as of now, X Payments LLC is said to have secured licences in 41 states in the US. The Tesla CEO aims to obtain regulatory approval from all 50 US states before the full-scale launch, as reported.
