Nothing has officially expanded the CMF lineup more than the introduction of the new CMF Phone 2 Pro, a new mid-range offering that features design changes, improved performance, a new telephoto camera, and a slightly larger display, all while maintaining the signature aesthetics. The Phone 2 Pro, which was released shortly after the Phone 3a, raises some questions about how these phones compare to one another.
If you’re curious about the differences between these devices in terms of camera, battery, design, performance, and price, here’s a detailed comparison to help you make an informed purchasing decision.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro and Nothing Phone 3a both have a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a maximum brightness of 3000 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Both of them have 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort and support for HDR10+. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is lighter at 185g and thinner at 7.8mm, with an IP54 rating, whereas the Phone (3a) is a little bulkier at 201g and has an IP64 rating for improved dust and water resistance.
The Nothing Phone 3a is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and comes with 8GB RAM in India. In contrast, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chip and 8GB RAM.
The Phone (3a) has a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical and up to 30x zoom, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and EIS. Additionally, it has a 32MP selfie camera with high resolution.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro, on the other hand, has a slightly wider 8MP ultrawide camera and a lower-resolution 16MP front camera, but it still has a similar 50MP main sensor and 50MP telephoto lens (20x digital zoom). The Phone (3a) has the advantage in terms of zoom range and selfie detail, even though both phones can record 4K video at 30 frames per second and slo-mo at 120 frames per second.
Both phones have 5000mAh batteries, but the Phone (3a) supports faster 50W charging, reaching 100% in 56 minutes, whereas the CMF Phone 2 Pro supports 33W charging and 5W reverse wired charging, which is useful for powering accessories. The software experience is consistent, with both devices running the Android 15-based Nothing OS (v3.1 for Phone 3a and v3.2 for CMF 2 Pro). Both include three years of Android updates, but the CMF Phone 2 Pro has a six-year support window for security updates, compared to the Phone 3a’s four.
Nothing Phone 3a is priced at Rs 24,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant while the 8GB + 256GB is priced at Rs 26,999. On the other hand, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is priced at Rs 18,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, with the 8GB + 256GB version priced at Rs 20,999.
