Apple's new Pride themed wallpaper.

Apple is all set to announce its iOS 19 at WWDC 2025 in June. Just before that, the company has started rolling out the iOS 18.5 update. While this is not a massive update, it brings a series of new features and enhancements that will help iPhone users in their day to day tasks. The update brings some changes to the Mail app, Parental Controls, Apple TV purchases and Satellite connectivity and has also introduced the Pride themed wallpaper. Here’s everything that is new and a step-by-step guide that will help you download the update.

1. Enhanced Mail App Navigation

The Mail app gets a minor update, allowing users to view the All Mail inbox, which was previously hidden. This makes switching between categorised inboxes and a full list of messages more convenient and simple. The three-dot menu now allows you to enable or disable contact photos directly from the inbox view, making customisation easier without having to go to Settings.

2. New Pride Wallpaper for iPhone

The company has also introduced the new Pride-themed wallpaper for iPhones. The company has also introduced the Pride Edition Watch Band for all sizes, priced at Rs 4,500. It will be available through retail partners, official stores, and Apple’s online store.

3. Improved Parental Controls in Screen Time

Parents will now receive notifications when their child’s Screen Time passcode is used on their device. With this new feature, Apple hopes to improve monitoring and prevent unauthorised changes to usage limits.

4. Apple TV App Purchases for Third-Party TVs

Previously available only on Apple TV devices running tvOS, Apple is now extending the convenience of buying with the iPhone. With iOS 18.5, users can now use the Apple TV app on third-party smart TVs and streaming devices and authenticate purchases straight from their iPhone.

5. Satellite Connectivity for iPhone 13 Series

Satellite connectivity, which was previously only available for the iPhone 14 and newer models, is now available for the iPhone 13 series with iOS 18.5. It will eventually improve communication in places with inadequate networks by enabling users to access carrier-provided satellite services, like T-Mobile’s Starlink-based connectivity (in the US).

iOS 18.5 supported devices

Any iPhone model that supports iOS 18 will be able to run iOS 18.5. The list includes iPhone XS/XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone SE (2nd generation and later), iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 11 series.
