The Apple September 9 event is almost here and everyone is talking about the iPhone Ultra, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The Cupertino-based tech giant is also said to introduce AirPods 5, Apple Watch Ultra 5 and Watch Series 12 at the Surprise and Shine event. But the reports suggest that this event will be different than usual. While there will be some premium products we may get to see, there are few things we may not get to see.
For a change, the standard Apple iPhone 18 may not launch this year. The reports suggest that Apple is changing its iPhone launch strategy, with the regular model expected to arrive in spring 2027 instead of alongside the Pro variants in September.
The iPhone 18 is said to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 chip based on a 2nm manufacturing process. Reports have also pointed to a higher-resolution 24-megapixel front camera and a smaller Dynamic Island.

The second-generation iPhone Air is also not expected at the September event. Apple launched the first iPhone Air alongside the iPhone 17 series last year, but reports suggest its successor has been pushed to spring 2027 with the iPhone 18. The new model may get a second rear camera and improved battery life. It is also expected to use a more efficient A20 Pro chip, although Apple has yet to confirm any of these details.
While we may get to see Apple Watch Series 12 or Watch Ultra 4, there are chances Apple may not launch an affordable Watch SE lineup this year. The current Apple Watch SE 3 arrived in September 2025, and there are reportedly no strong indications of a fourth-generation model for 2026.

New Mac hardware is another category that may sit out the September keynote. Apple is reportedly working on updated MacBook Pro models, including a future high-end redesign featuring OLED displays and a thinner chassis.
A refreshed 24-inch iMac with a newer-generation chip is also reportedly in development. However, Apple traditionally gives Macs their own launch window, often later in the year. The company has already announced new Mac models in August, making another major Mac reveal on September 9 even less likely.
