Apple unveiled the HomeView at its ‘Welcome home’ October event. While the product is relatively new, the company is now reportedly working on an upcoming version that could offer a bigger screen and 360-degree rotation. According to The Information, the smart device’s prototype has a 9-inch display and a swivel arm. Not just that, the company is experimenting with robots that could help with daily activities such as folding clothes and more. Another one could fly inside your home as a monitoring camera.

Apple is said to have considered other types of robots, including one with wheels to follow a user inside their home, according to MacRumors. Another robot could fly inside the home like a drone for monitoring. Finally, another one could help people fold clothes. However, readers should note that these are just experimental designs and may or may not enter final production.
The upcoming HomeView’s design language is said to be similar to the iMac G4 or a Pixar’s Luxo Jr. lamp mascot, citing The Information, the news report added. Meanwhile, the existing HomeView is priced at Rs 39,900 in India. The upcoming home device is said to offer the standard FaceTime feature. However, it is said to be “fully aware” of its ambience and may also act “autonomously”. The rumoured robot could use cameras and sensors to achieve this.
The possible activities it might perform include turning on lights when someone enters the room. It may even nudge pets away from restricted zones and could be smart enough not to collide with surrounding objects. The hardware of the anticipated device is said to be in the final stages. However, Apple has reportedly not yet finalised which features to ship in the first-generation device and which to postpone for the second-generation model.
