Apple iOS 26 update is already in the headlines for its new design, features, and the user interface. The new update is expected to debut with the iPhone 17 series globally, followed by the last generation iPhones. While the update was largely about the Liquid Glass design, it will definitely bring some AI enhancements.
Recently, reports have suggested that the iOS 26 update could bring an enhanced ChatGPT integration backed by GPT-5 model. It may also bring enhanced Siri, writing tools, call screening, and much more. Here is everything about the iOS 26 release timeline, features, and supported devices.
Apple’s iOS 26 update will first be available for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. If reports are correct, the iPhone 17 series will be released on September 8 or September 9, and based on Apple’s previous track record, the iOS 26 update can be expected to roll out to older iPhones between September 15 and September 19.
However, the exact dates have yet to be announced. However, reports strongly suggest that the iOS 26 update for last-generation iPhones will be released in mid-September.
Reports say the update will roll out to the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series (including mini), iPhone 12 series (including mini), iPhone 11 series, and iPhone SE 2nd gen.
With iOS 26, Apple will integrate GPT-5 into Siri and Writing Tools on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 17 series, as well as via iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26. Users can generate text, solve problems, and get visual intelligence features without extra apps. Some advanced capabilities, like richer AI image generation, require paid access. The update also adds Live Translation, improved image search, and enhanced Image Playground.
Additionally, iOS 26 will bring Live Translation, Call and Message Screening, along with a few updates to Messages. The Apple Maps, Wallet, and Camera app is also said to get some significant upgrades. If you are a gamer, you can also get a dedicated Game Center.
Safari and Camera are also confirmed to get new features and an improved user interface.
