Google Pixel 9A
Google is officially bringing a new battery health menu to Pixel devices with the upcoming Android 16 update. The long-awaited feature was first introduced in March 2025, with Android 16 Beta 3 release. It aims to help users keep track of their phone’s battery health. The feature is said to be similar to the iPhone’s battery health tool introduced in 2018. However, not all Pixel phones will get this new feature.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Google Pixel battery health feature and which phones will support it.
Google has confirmed to introduce a battery health indicator for select Pixel models. The feature will be made available in the Settings menu under the Battery tab. It will reflect the charge capacity of the device’s battery compared to when it was new. For the unversed, smartphones’ batteries naturally lose some capacity over time, and with the new feature, users will be able to track the real-time status.
According to reports, users will see a green checkmark if the battery health is normal. However, the new feature will be limited to the new Pixel devices only, including the Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 series. The company has confirmed the same in a response to a bug report on the Android Issue Tracker. The older models will miss out on this feature due to hardware limitations.

Notably, iPhone has been offering this feature since iOS 11.3 rolled out back in 2018. The handsets come with a built-in Battery Health tracker showcasing capacity percentage and service recommendations.
Meanwhile, Google is all set to host its annual developer conference I/O 2025 on May 20 with a special segment called “The Android Show: I/O Edition,” slated to air live on May 13, 2025.
