Telecom changes don’t always arrive with loud announcements, as sometimes, they slip in quietly, hoping most people won’t notice. Airtel’s latest move falls into that category. The company has revised its popular unlimited 5G data add-on packs, trimming down the data benefits while keeping prices exactly the same. On paper, nothing looks dramatic. However, in practical terms, Airtel has changed the value equation more than you might expect.
These add-on packs have been especially popular with users on lower daily data plans who still want access to Airtel’s unlimited 5G network. Check below to learn more about the complete details of the revised plans.
Airtel introduced the Rs 51, Rs 101 and Rs 151 unlimited 5G add-on packs back in July 2024. At launch, they felt reasonably generous, as they provided good benefits to the users at an affordable price. However, according to the updated details listed on Airtel’s official website, the data bundled with these packs has been reduced to nearly a third of what it used to be.
The Rs 51 pack, which earlier offered 3GB of data, now comes with just 1GB. The Rs 101 plan has been cut from 6GB down to 2GB. And the Rs 151 pack, once offering 9GB, now provides only 3GB. While the pricing for each pack has not been reduced, the data value clearly has. For users who relied on these packs to comfortably bridge the gap between daily data limits, the downgrade is hard to ignore.

Airtel users can continue to enjoy unlimited 5G access with these add-on packs. As before, even after the bundled data is exhausted, users will still get uninterrupted 5G internet, with any additional usage charged at 50 paise per MB.
It’s also worth noting that these packs don’t show up for everyone, as they’re only available to users on eligible base plans, which usually means daily data plans below the 2GB threshold.

For users on 1GB or 1.5GB per day plans, these add-ons were a simple workaround. Airtel already gives unlimited 5G data to customers on plans offering 2GB per day or more. If you were below that line, these packs were the most affordable way to unlock faster speeds and heavier usage without jumping to a more expensive base plan.
With the reduced data limits, that balance feels a bit off. You’re still paying the same amount, but the buffer before paid data kicks in is much smaller. For heavy users, that means either watching usage more closely or spending more over time.

Like all unlimited 5G offerings, these packs come with a Fair Usage Policy cap of 300GB over 30 days. On a fast 5G network, that number can sneak up faster than many people expect, especially if you stream or download frequently.
Airtel hasn’t offered any official explanation for the reduction in data benefits. For now, the change simply exists. If you’re planning a recharge or already rely on these add-ons, it’s worth double-checking the updated details. The packs still do what they promise, but they don’t stretch as far as they used to.
