Adobe has added a slew of new AI-powered tools to its popular video editing software, Premiere Pro, including General Extend and Media Intelligence. The US-based tech giant intends to improve video editing capabilities by allowing users to expand video and audio clips and quickly locate footage within media libraries. Additionally, the company has also introduced updates for Adobe After Effects and Frame.io.

Adobe Premiere Pro update and key features
Generative Extend: Powered by Adoble’s Firefly Video model, the new feature will allow users to extend the duration of video and audio clips to fill in the necessary gaps and make smoother transitions. Interestingly, the feature supports 4K resolution and vertical video format.
Media Intelligence: This new feature uses artificial intelligence to identify the objects, locations, and metadata in the footage to help the editors locate the relevant clips, eliminating the need to manually find the files.
The company also introduced AI-powered Caption Translation which can generate subtitles in 27 languages, helping creators expand their reach.
Premiere Color Management simplifies color correction by automatically converting log footage from various cameras into HDR and SDR formats.
After Effects and Frame.io updates:
After Effects now includes a high-performance preview playback engine, improved 3D motion design tools, and HDR monitoring for more precise color adjustments.
Frame.io V4 introduces expanded cloud storage, AI-based transcription, watermarking for content protection, and improved document collaboration tools.
Availability
Adobe has announced that the latest updates for Premiere Pro and After Effects are now available. Premiere Pro will offer complimentary Generative Extend generations for a limited period. In Frame.io V4, Transcription and Access Groups are currently in beta, while other new features are fully available. Adobe will showcase these updates, along with other video and collaboration tools, at the 2025 NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 6-9, at Booth SL2210.
