Ever since the initial announcement, buyers have been awaiting the release date and pricing details of upcoming Valve hardware, the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame VR headset. Even though multiple rumours have previously suggested that there could be a slight delay in the launch because of the RAM and storage pricing that has affected the entire PC market, there has been no official news from Valve till now. Steam Machine and Steam Frame delayed

In a blog post, Valve spoke to the consumers regarding their hardware and expressed their disappointment. Suggesting that the increased pricing of memory and storage in the PC market has been the major cause of the delay. And the reasons that they haven’t been able to announce the exact launch timeline and pricing details.

The blog post released by Valve reads, ‘We planned on being able to share specific pricing and launch dates by now. But the memory and storage shortages you’ve likely heard about across the industry have rapidly increased since then. The limited availability and growing prices of these critical components mean we must revisit our exact shipping schedule and pricing.’

Furthermore, Valve has confirmed that they are trying their best to ship the hardware within the first half of 2026. But do note that the makers have not announced any further details. So far, they’ve only said that they’re working on the release timeline and the updated pricing for the hardware.

The post said, ‘We have work to do to land on concrete pricing and launch dates that we can confidently announce, being mindful of how quickly the circumstances around both of those things can change. We will keep you updated as much as we can as we finalize those plans as soon as possible.’

Steam Machine hardware capabilities

Along with the delay announcement, Valve has also shared some new details about the hardware of the Steam Machine in the same blog post. Given that the majority of the crowd has been a bit doubtful regarding the power of the machine, Valve has shared some new test figures.

As per their testing, they’ve found that the majority of titles from the Steam library are able to get a consistent 4K 60FPS result using FSR. But along with that, they’ve also confirmed that some of the heavier games do require more upscaling.

They’ve even suggested that these heavy-to-run games may require a 30fps lock, with VRR enabled to maintain a minimum 1080p resolution. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not these test figures will be retained in the future, when games get heavier to run. But well, that’s a story for some other time; we should get our answers when the Steam Machine is finally released.
