Bandai Namco and Rebel Wolves’ The Blood of Dawnwalker is almost here. The game will launch next month and has been much talked-about ever since its first look was shared in January last year. And now, as we get closer to the launch date, we are getting to know more about the title. But the recent announcement from the developers might leave you disappointed if you are a console owner.
Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco have just shown console gameplay of the upcoming title and it confirms that the action RPG will target only up to 40 FPS on consoles. This means that players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will not have a 60 FPS mode at launch. Now, even though 40 FPS can still offer a smoother experience than 30 FPS, the lack of a 60 FPS option could disappoint players who prefer fluid gameplay over higher graphics.

Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco have revealed two graphics modes for The Blood of Dawnwalker on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The Quality Mode will target 30 FPS at dynamic 4K resolution, while the Balanced Mode will target 40 FPS at dynamic 4K resolution.
The PlayStation 5 Pro will offer the same two frame rate targets and dynamic 4K resolution, but with ‘enhanced visual quality’ in both modes.
What is missing here is a 60 FPS option. There is no mention of a performance mode that drops the resolution to 1080p or another lower target to deliver 60 FPS. This has already disappointed some players, with some saying in the comments of the video shared that they would rather sacrifice resolution for a smoother experience.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to launch on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
For the unversed, FPS ( frames per second ), refers to the number of individual frames displayed every second. A higher frame rate makes your in-game movement look smoother and the game feels more responsive.
Now at 30 FPS, the game displays 30 frames every second while 60 FPS doubles that to 60 frames. And that difference is quite noticeable, especially in fast-paced combat. Higher FPS can make camera movement, attacks and reactions feel more fluid, which is why many players prefer 60 FPS even if it means giving up some visual quality. For a story-driven game like The Blood of Dawnwalker, 30 FPS is still playable, but players looking for the smoothest possible experience may miss the option to run it at 60 FPS.
