Silent Hill 2 remake developer just confirmed another horror game: All we know

Updated on 16-Feb-2026

Bloober Team, the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, has finally revealed the mysterious project it teased earlier this year. After weeks of speculation and a dramatic countdown that ended on February 14, fans were expecting something very different. Many believed the Polish horror studio was about to revive a cult classic from the PlayStation 2 era. Instead, Bloober confirmed that its next major title is Layers of Fear 3. The announcement came during a special presentation celebrating ten years of the psychological horror franchise, and it sets the stage for another disturbing chapter.

Layers of Fear 3 is now official

The reveal happened as part of a 10th anniversary showcase for the Layers of Fear series. During the presentation, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno thanked fans for supporting the franchise over the years before confirming that Layers of Fear 3 is now in development. The series first began in 2016, followed by a sequel in 2021 and a remake released in 2023. With this new entry, the studio is returning to one of its most recognised original properties.

The early marketing leaned heavily on William Blake’s poem The Sick Rose. A teaser trailer shows a man sitting inside a grand but unsettling room, reading the poem aloud while facing a portrait of a woman. Another painting appears to show a distorted humanoid figure with its mouth sewn shut. At one point, the portrait crashes to the floor as a ghostly presence moves through the room. The trailer ends with the tagline, ‘Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.’

There is currently no confirmed release date or list of platforms for Layers of Fear 3. Bloober has only shared a live action teaser, keeping gameplay details under wraps for now.

What happened to the Rule of Rose rumours?

Before the announcement, many fans believed Bloober Team was working on a remake or sequel to Rule of Rose, a rare PlayStation 2 horror title that has become highly sought after. The theory gained traction because of the repeated references to roses in the teaser campaign. The studio even used a countdown timer along with the poem narration, which sparked intense online speculation.

However, Bloober quickly shut down those expectations by confirming that the new project is not related to Rule of Rose. Instead, the focus remains firmly on Layers of Fear 3. Apart from this, Bloober is also working on the Silent Hill 1 remake and another project known as Project M.
