Nvidia showcases performance of the “fastest DX11 GPU on the planet” [video]

Updated on 08-Nov-2010

A sneak peak of what Nvidia called the “fastest DX11 GPU on the planet” was offered to select reporters at an event yesterday, where the green giant showed off what all assume to be the GTX 580’s tessellation performance, in two technical demonstrations, and one gameplay demo from Call of Duty: Black Ops. Nvidia announced that the GPU will be hitting markets ver soon.

[RELATED_ARTICLE]You can check out the full video of the sneak peak below. The unnamed “fastest DX11 GPU” will apparently run cooler and quieter than Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 480 and 285, using a new vapour chamber cooling system, which cools by recycling boiling water in a loop, heated by a copper plate heating element. The technical demonstrations, especially Aliens vs. Triangles, showed off the GPU’s extreme tessellation performance, as well as the use of multi-layered tessellation maps. More details can be found in the video…

Of course, we are still eagerly expecting the AMD Radeon HD 6900 series, and have great hopes for the HD 6970 and HD 6990 keeping up with the as yet unofficial GTX 580.
