GTA 6 gameplay leaked ahead of Netflix reveal and the internet cannot keep calm

We are barely days away from finally getting an ‘extended look’ at GTA 6, but it seems that hackers have once again beaten Rockstar Games to the punch. Some gameplay footage from the much-awaited game has leaked online, along with what appears to be an image of the Leonida map. Rockstar is already trying to take down the leaked videos and images, but as we all know, once something lands on the internet, getting rid of it is almost impossible.

The leaked material includes two short gameplay clips, each showing different parts of the game. While Rockstar has not confirmed that the footage is genuine, what has been shown so far looks believable enough to get GTA fans talking.

GTA 6 leak shows Jason playing basketball

One of the clips reportedly features Jason, one of GTA 6’s two protagonists, at what appears to be his safehouse. Interestingly, the building looks similar to one that Rockstar has already shown in an official GTA 6 screenshot.

Jason can reportedly be seen jumping over a balcony, running past a jetski and picking up a basketball. He then takes a few shots, with the first successful shot seemingly giving him a boost to his focus stat.

And this is where things get interesting. GTA 6 could apparently be leaning further into RPG-style mechanics than previous games. The clip also seems to show a focus bar appearing on the screen while Jason has the basketball.

There isn’t much else visible in terms of the game’s interface, although two money figures can reportedly be seen in the top-right corner.

Another clip apparently gives us a glimpse at GTA 6’s combat and driving. Jason is seen driving towards an area called The Keys before making a U-turn and getting into trouble. He crashes into a delivery truck and ends up fighting its driver.

Jason eventually kills the driver using a wrench, which reportedly results in a two-star wanted level. The footage also appears to show a devil icon with a minus sign next to Jason’s portrait. This has led to speculation that GTA 6 could have some kind of honour or morality system, similar to Red Dead Redemption.

There are also “loadout” and “storage” prompts that briefly appear when Jason returns to his vehicle. If genuine, this could mean players will be able to manage weapons and other items through their cars.

But perhaps the most interesting detail is the apparent fuel meter. After Jason gets back into the vehicle, an icon showing the car’s name and what looks like a fuel gauge appears on screen. This could mean players might have to refuel their vehicles in GTA 6, although it is too early to say whether this will actually be part of the final game.

The leaked clip reportedly ends with Jason approaching an air ambulance.

GTA 6 map also appears to have leaked

A screenshot of what appears to be GTA 6’s Leonida map has also surfaced alongside the gameplay clips. Leonida is Rockstar’s fictional version of Florida, with Vice City sitting at the heart of the game.

The leaked image appears to show a large city towards the east, while much of the western and northern portions of the map are covered by more open areas. There are also several islands scattered around the map, including a group in the south that looks a lot like the Florida Keys.

Several markers can also be seen on the map. While most are difficult to make out, some appear to represent a house, vehicles and even an alligator.

However, don’t take any of this as confirmed information just yet. Rockstar has not officially verified the leaked footage or map, and there is also no way of knowing how old the clips are. Some of the features shown could have been changed or removed before GTA 6 launches.

Now, while some fans are already digging through leaked footage, everyone will get an official look at the game very soon. Netflix will showcase GTA 6 through its upcoming “Extended Look” on August 27. The presentation will initially be available on Netflix before making its way to YouTube later the same day.

Meanwhile, GTA 6 will launch on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar has not yet announced a PC release date.
