The story of Ponies revolves around two women, Bea and Twila, whose husbands were CIA operatives. However, their lives are turned upside down with the death of their husbands in a plane crash in the Soviet Union. As a way of coping with their husbands’ deaths, they are recruited by the CIA to work as undercover agents. As a result, since they are viewed as insignificant and harmless, they are coded PONIES, meaning ‘persons of no interest’.
This assists them in easily accessing places without being observed, especially in dangerous situations. The series depicts their transformation from normal women to secret agents, with KGB entanglements and conspiracy theories. As their tale unfolds, Bea and Twila discover their own power and exploits even as they unravel secrets that can bring changes beyond their own transformation.
