After making waves during its theatrical run earlier this year, Materialists, Celine Song’s latest directorial, is finally heading to OTT platforms. Starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal in lead roles, the romantic drama will premiere on Netflix India this week, within just three months after its global theatrical debut.
For those who can’t wait, the film is already available for rent on Prime Video and ZEE5, but its arrival on Netflix marks the official streaming release. Here’s all we know about the Materialists OTT release.
Celine Song’s Materialists is finally making its OTT debut in India on September 13, 2025. The romantic comedy-drama will be available to stream on Netflix in India.
Materialists marks Song’s second feature film after the Oscar-nominated Past Lives (2023). Much like her debut, the film blends romance with sharp observations on ambition and identity, this time set against the high-pressure backdrop of New York City.
The film revolves around Lucy Mason (Dakota Johnson), a former actor who reinvents herself as a high-end matchmaker. Treating love like a business transaction, Lucy offers her service around facts, wealth, and appearances, until her personal life collides with her professional philosophy.
Two very different men disrupt her world- Harry Castillo (Pedro Pascal), a wealthy investor with refined tastes, and John P. (Chris Evans), her struggling ex-boyfriend who resurfaces unexpectedly. What begins as a straightforward romance soon spirals into a complex love triangle, forcing Lucy to choose between the comfort of a shared past and the allure of a seemingly perfect future.
